OctoBot started as an open-source trading bot. Over the years, the project grew: we launched OctoBot cloud to make strategies accessible to any crypto investor, and we kept building the full open source OctoBot for users who want complete control.
We built two great things separately. We’re about to make them one.
Today, most crypto investors manage their portfolio across multiple exchanges, wallets, and automation tools. Open-source OctoBot is powerful but requires technical setup. OctoBot cloud is easy but felt like a separate experience. And in both cases, seeing your full portfolio, let alone automating it as a whole, has always been harder than it should be.
We decided to change that.
A new philosophy: unified crypto portfolio automation
At OctoBot, we realized that crypto investors should not have to choose between automation, privacy, flexibility, and simplicity.
Over the last months, we’ve been working on the biggest evolution of OctoBot since its creation. The next version of OctoBot is built around a new philosophy: unified crypto portfolio automation and analytics.
Instead of being “a trading bot”, OctoBot becomes your unified platform to automate, analyze, and manage your entire crypto portfolio.
Convenience should never require sacrificing ownership.

Most platforms force you to pick one strategy per account, create multiple sub-accounts, or split your capital manually across separate bots.

Complete self-custody and privacy
This is a core value at OctoBot, and the next version changes how we handle it.
On OctoBot cloud, you trust us to run your bots with your exchange API keys. Your crypto always stays on your exchange account. We never hold your funds.
The new OctoBot works differently. Unlike the cloud version, your API keys and wallet credentials always stay on your device. Your phone or computer runs your strategies. We never receive your keys. This is the same approach we describe in how to use a self custody crypto trading bot.
Our open source roots mean the code is auditable. You can verify every claim we make. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t profile your behavior.

Open source and cloud, finally one experience
Historically, open-source OctoBot and OctoBot cloud felt like two separate worlds. Powerful on one side, simple on the other, but never truly connected.
The next OctoBot unifies them. Easy to use like the cloud, built on the same open-source OctoBot engine that runs on your device.
Set up a strategy in minutes on your phone. It runs the same open-source OctoBot engine, whose code is published on GitHub. Discover strategies, start them in a few taps, and manage your bots remotely from any device.
Community strategies are built on the same open-source codebase trusted by the OctoBot community. Developers who want to self-host, customize, or build from scratch keep the full open-source path.
Community-powered strategies
OctoBot has always been community-driven. The next version takes this further.
You will be able to create your own strategies and share them with the community, or discover and run strategies built by other traders, analysts, and creators you trust.
Your favorite crypto creator publishes a strategy, you run it in one click. You build your own strategy and let your community use it. Great strategy ideas can now reach thousands of users.
And community strategies still run with full self-custody: you adopt someone’s logic, not their access to your funds.

The new OctoBot is open source
We know many long-time OctoBot users care deeply about open source, self-hosting, and privacy. This update is not moving away from any of that.
The next OctoBot is not a separate product next to the open-source project. It is the open-source OctoBot, evolved. All of it is developed in the main OctoBot repository on GitHub.
You can still self-host, fork, audit, and contribute. If you have been following or using the open-source OctoBot, you are already following what is coming next.
